I got this stump grinder and was unsure of how well it would work with my small tractor. I’m using a JD 755 with about 15hp to the PTO, so definitely on the low end but it makes quick work of the softwood trees we have in the area. I think it would struggle a bit more on hardwoods. I could definitely use more power at times, but you just take smaller bites and it works great. I took out several 20-22” pine stumps and chased all the roots. My only complaint is when torquing the teeth, I find it difficult to not rotate the disc while I am using the torque wrench on a tooth. I wish there was a lockout bar much like they have for the flywheel in woodland mills chippers. Would also be nice if the steel shroud came a bit closer to the main bearing as it can be difficult to get my torque wrench on the inside teeth. Other than that works great and happy with my purchase!

I had been needing a stump grinder for quite a while. Part of my property is timberland and the other part was badly overgrown with a mix of hardwoods and softwoods. On the residential side alone I have taken well over 100 trees and it's still very wooded, but nice nicer. This little guy is really close to, but just short of, perfect for our application. We are working on a 10 acre forested homestead and trying to clear some areas and thin some of the dense areas for the health of the established trees. Connected to a 2038R this does not lack for capability even on wide 24-30 inch stumps. It does take a little tuning on the 3-point setup and sometimes pulls a bit harder to the side where it feels like it risks bending something on the tractor, but so far after about 20 hrs of grinding, all is good. Once you dial in the tension on the 3-point arms it does get better (along with getting better at feathering the advance rate of the tractor). On smaller stumps (under 10 inches) it hard knows your doing any work. It just eats right through it all. My only complaints are: 1) It takes some ingenuity and thinking to get the pins compatible with a quick hitch. These are so common now that implement manufacturers are going to start losing stars from me if they continue to ignore this accommodation 2) At least a few spare teeth should be included in the original purchase. Especially as a new user, we broke 2 teeth being a little too aggressive when learning. Yes, they are readily available and ship quickly, but a starter pack of 2 or 3 included before having to shell out another multiple hundred dollars would add even more satisfaction and prevent me from ever considering other brands if Woodland Mills had the implement i was after. As it stands, i now own a 6 inch chipper, an HM126 mill, and now this stump grinder. All have been working very well in our case.

The WG24 is of quality construction - Thick steel and well designed. I used to hit a couple of stumps every summer with my lawn mower and spend time and money repairing my mowing deck.
